On January 8th, I will be showing my current work along side of some amazing artists. We all share a gallery in Urban Light Studio’s Greenwood Collective. Artists include Curtis Ashby, Mallory Milke, Joshua Boulet, Robert Bellm and myself.
Each one of these artists brings something different to the gallery, giving our visitors a wide variety of artwork to look at.
Curtis paints very delicate, realistic images of birds in front of beautifully abstract backgrounds. He also has a clothing line for all you PNW loving people at Paper Diamond Clothing. His designs, while whimsical and simple, show PNW pride in the most bad ass way possible.
Mallory uses a combination of zentangle design and small aspects of realistic painting to create awesome animal designs that she can put on pretty much anything from coloring books to fabric pencil (or whatever knick-knacks you like to carry around) pouches. Her latest pieces feature these animal designs mounted on wood panels cut into the same shape as her designs.
Joshua Boulet is one of the most gifted cartoonists that I have ever met. Having moved to Seattle from Texas, Joshua quickly became a staple in the Seattle Art World by pairing up with Seattle Weekly as a reoccurring cover artist. If you live in Seattle, chances are you have seen this guys work without even knowing it. He has also illustrated covers for the Northwest Leaf, Oregon Leaf and has had his cartoons featured in publications such as Dark Horse Comics.
Robert Bellm’s paintings are typically bird-centric with a illustrated feel, giving each piece the feeling of being in a world of its own. Robert offers most of his paintings as prints on wood and paper, making these beautiful pieces of art affordable for everyone.
As for me, I paint abstract watercolor paintings with linear or geometric aspects. Currently hanging will be a couple geometric pieces, along with an older selection of large abstract paintings from my “Elements” series.
Come on by Urban Light Studios to see our gallery, along with 5 other galleries filled with more amazing artists!
